In a twist to the decision to boycott the Assembly session, the YSRCP MLAs today asserted that they would attend the session if Speaker initiated disqualification proceedings against the defected MLAs.

YSRCP MLAs led by their Whip Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy submitted a memorandum to the Speaker urging him to disqualify its Rampachodavaram MLA Vantena Rajeswari who switched loyalities to the TDP recently along with the 21 MLAs who did so earlier. YSRCP MLAs said that ‘ it is not a boycott. We are registering our protest against the inaction of the Speaker’. We are ready to attend the session if Speaker initiates action against the MLAs’.

MLA Ramakrishna Reddy referring to the latest gazette notification from the Assembly said the party had a strength of 67 MLAs including the 22 defected ones. Assembly Secretary Vijayraj was asked to give a certified copy of the gazette. He, however, pleaded helplessness. It reflected the awful conditions prevailing in the Assembly, he said.

Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Dr.Kodela Sivaprasada Rao has appealed to the YSRCP to attend the Assembly. He held separate meetings with Chief Secretary, Special Chief Secretary etc., police officials and Chairmen of different committees to discuss the arrangements and preparedness for the session slated to begin from November 10. He asked the Chief Secretary and officials to prepare replies to be given to the questions raised by the members.
