  • Roja expresses willingness to withdraw comments if it hurts any one

YSRCP Nagari MLA R.K.Roja has appeared before the Privileges Committee today following notices were served against her for allegedly making abusive remarks against TDP MLA V. Anitha.

Sources said that Roja has given a detailed explanation to the Privileges Committee headed by Gollapalli Surya Rao on her version of the happenings on December 18, 2015. The committee had taken on records of the statements given by Roja.

The committee would submit a detailed report to the Speaker after a thorough study. Gollapalli Surya Rao declined to comment about the future course of action. Sources said that a majority of the panel members were learnt to be inclined to take a lenient view as she had expressed willingness to withdraw the remarks.

It may be recalled that TDP MLA Anita moved a privilege motion against Roja a couple of days after the Assembly witnessed acrimonious scenes over the abusive comments reportedly made by Roja against Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues. Anita alleged that the comments against her were tantamount to character assignation.

In her explanation spanning over an hour, Roja is learnt to have stood firm on her stand that she had not made any derogatory remarks against Anita. She explained that she had nothing against Anita and the latter was being used by the ruling party members to target her as he was championing women’s causes in the Assembly. She expressed willingness to withdraw her remarks in case they had hurt somebody.
