The water leakage in Interium Government Complex in Amaravati exposed the chinks in the construction of the building.
The offices of Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao located in the fourth block of the Secretariat witnessed the seepage from the roof. The false ceiling in the Stamps and Registrations department also came to light. The furniture in the office of the Principal Secretary (Water Resources) Sasi Bhushan got drenched.
Minsiter for Municipal Administration P.Narayana inspected the fourth block. Speaking to media persons later, he said that there were ‘no problems’ with the construction. The water was entering the offices as the duct sheet that was covering the slab was not intact. The officials have been directed to take corrective measures. It is a very minor problem and asked the media not blow up out of proportions.
It may be recalled that the water seeped into some chambers including of the Leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the corridors on June 7 through a PVC pie which was carrying AC cables forcing the staff to put plastic buckets at the leakage points. The leakage turned into a political issue with the TDP alleged foul play by the YSRCP. The government ordered a CID probe that concluded that negligence of workers in not covering the pipeline properly might have resulted in the leakage.
