The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has resolved to get nearly 200 of its vigilance and security personnel trained in the face recognition technology.
Speaking to media here today, the TTD Chief Vigilance and Security Officer A.Ravi Krishna said that an understanding has been reached with a private company that had come forward to impart free training to the security personnel for three months. The application will enable the management in identifying and verifying a person from a digital image or a video frame and compare it with the selected facial features from the database in TTD’s possession.
As a precautionary measure, the personnel manning the Alipiri manning the Alipiri Checking point will also be trained. He said works relating to the first phase of installation for 280 CCTV cameras was expected to be completed by the first week of February.
