TTD systems prone to WaanaCry virus – no threat to services to devotees

WannaCry virus attacked the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam systems.

According to sources, the officials have removed the systems. The systems mainly in the administrative wing were subjected to the attack. The systems nearly 30 in number were attacked with the virus and the systems were removed. However, there is no problem for the services being extended to the devotees said sources.

Police department computers hacked::

In Andhra Pradesh, 18 police units in Chitoor, Krishna, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam were affected. According to DGP N.Sambasiva Rao, systems using the Windows operating system were hit by the cyber attack. However, the DGP’s Apple’s operating system was safe.

Tirupati Urban SP R. Jaya Lakshmi said that the ransomware encrypted date in some police stations. They were not able to access data and hackers were demanding ransom in digital currency bitcoin to restore access. She said that the impact is minimal as they keep offline record of FIRs and other documents.
