The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday granted a stay on further proceedings against IAS officer B.P.Acharya before the Special CBI court here in the illegal investments case of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The investigation agency has listed Acharya as the A-3 in three cases of allotment of land to Hetero, Aurbindo Pharma and Trident Life Sciences by allegedly entering into a criminal conspiracy with other accused in the case. Acharya moved a petition seeking to quash the CBI proceedings by arguing that there was no specific evidence to show that he had personally benefitted out of the allotments.
T. Pradyumna Kumar Reddy, counsel for Acharya appearing before Justice Raja Elango put forth his arguments that the CBI charge against his client was baseless. While considering the argument, the judge stayed the proceedings and exempted Acharya from personal appearance before the CBI court.
In another petition moved by Sharath Chandra Reddy, former MD of Trident Life Sciences Company, the judge granted exemption from personal appearance to the petitioner before the special CBI Court in the DA case of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
