The Union Minister for Shipping Nitin Gadkari has communicated to Visakhapatnam MP K.Haribabu in response to a representation from Chirala Press Guild Secretary Kota Sai Prabhakara Rao said that the Union Government found that ‘prima facie, Vodarevu is a good site for setting up a port.

The Union Minister said that the State Government had been asked to provide details of land available for the port backup area and access corridor to Vodarevu to take further action in the matter.

Meanwhile, senior TDP leader Karanam Balarama Krishnamurthy said that the Visakhapatnam Port Trust is ready to invest Rs.3,500 crore for the development of Vodarevu port in the wake of cancelling of the Vodarevu and Nizampatnam Industrial Corridor (VANPIC). He said that had taken up the matter with VPT Chairman M.T.Krishna Babu.
