Six police personnel were injured at Kamsali Bethapudi today when they were allegedly attacked by the villagers agitating against setting up of an aqua park at Tundurru.

The incident took place when the villagers tried to prevent the vehicles carrying machinery meant for Godavari Aqua Food Park from passing through the village. A scuffle between the police and the agitators when the later broke the police barricades and prevented the movement of machinery. The protesters majority of women threw chilli powder at the women police personnel and tried to pour petrol on the policemen.

In the incident three women constables, one constable and one reserve sub-inspector sustained injuries. They were immediately7 rushed to the hospitals in Narsapuram.

Superintendent of Police Ravi Prakash warned that any attempt to impede development in the district would not be tolerated. The police have arrested Areti Vasul, Areti Sastyavati, Javvadi Satyanarayana, Samudrala Abbulu, Viswanatham and Sattibabu who had been spearheading the protest and shifted them to police station at Mogalthur. 50 protestors including women were taken into custody and shifted to Narasapuram police station.

It may be recalled that the residents of Tundurru, Kamsali Bethapudi and Jonnalagaruvu have been demanding relocation of the Aqua Food factory for the last nine months.
