West Godavari SP M.Ravi Prakash categorically stated that the police will not allow conducting cockfights in the district.

He said that 60 joint inspecting teams were formed with police and revenue officials. Section 144 and Section 30 are enforced in the district. Speaking to press, he said that the Supreme Court only stated that the police should not seize cocks from any poultry or from any individuals from their houses. ‘Supreme Court or High Court orders are clear and no cockfights even without tying daggers will be allowed in the district’, he said.

The SP said that the High Court gave directions to implement its earlier orders in letter and spirit and also submit report on what steps tht were being taken in districts to stop cockfights. He said that police identified 55 big rings and served notices on the owners of the land and also organizers.
