The petrol and diesel prices will be revised on daily basis in Puducherry, Vizag in Andhra Pradesh, Udaipur in Rajasthan, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and Chandigarh from today instead of using fortnightly average of dollar fluctuations.

Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL and BPCL that owns more than 58,000 pumps in the country will launch in the above cities on pilot basis and will be extended to other parts of the country in a phased manner according to sources.

Retailers at the outlets will display boards at the pumps for daily price update. Apart from the display boards, the customers would also get to know about the daily prices through SMS. Mobile numbers would be displayed at the fuel stations and the people can send SMS to those numbers to know fuel price for the day.
