Well before the launch of ‘Chalo Amaravati’ by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham at around 9.30am today, the police placed him under house arrest.

Officer on Special Duty Ravi Sankar served the notice of house arrest and stopped him and his followers from leaving the house. Mudragada asked the police officials to give him the reasons for the action saying he was not involved in any case and would take up the yatra in Gandhian way. The officer told him that he had no permission to launch the rally and anticipating trouble, they were confining him to his house.

Mudragada told the officer that this was the final showdown of the community and they wanted to settle the issue forever. He gave a call to the cadre to come to Kirlampudi everyday between 9am to 10am by walk to express their solidarity. He said that the government had been cheating them for the last for four years by not including them in the list of Backward Classes and charged the Chief Minister for not sticking up to his promise.

It may be recalled that Mudragada Padmanabham was placed under house arrest for 24 hours.
