Former Minister and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham has demanded the State government to take the responsibility of the including of Kapus in the list of BCs.

He wanted the government to ensure that the process be completed by March 31, 2018. He called upon the Kapus not to give up their agitation until the BC reservation to the community was included in the ninth schedule of the Constitution. Addressing the representatives of the Kapu JAC from all the districts, he said ‘If the government failed to do so, we have to gear up for another round of agitation from April 1. It is up to the Kapus to decide whether it will be a political agitation or a caste base one’.

Mudragada said that the government should also focus on extending political reservation to the Kapus without which it is not possible for the caste to achieve overall development.

Will not affect BCs::

Meanwhile, State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that Kapus would get 5% reservation in addition to the existing 25% quota given to BCs. Speaking to media after holding a review meeting of different departments, he alleged that a few elements with vested interests were trying to get political mileage by creating unrest among the BCs and advised the latter not to fall prey to such people. He said that the government is keen on implementing BC sub-plan with an estimated outlay of Rs.10,000 crore. He said that these reservations are only limited to education and employment and they are not going to enjoy reservation in politics and the BC leaders should make a note of it, he said.
