A week after the attacks, the headquarters of the European Union, the Indian Embassy there and the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday confirmed the death of Raghavendran Ganesh. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that the Belgian authorities have identified the victim as one of the victims of the terror attack of March 22, 2016. He said that he was a victim of the blast that took place in the metro at Maalbeek station in Brussels. The mortal remains of Raghavendran are being handed over to his family for being taken to India.
Ganeshan’s last phone call was tracked to the metro. His brother who is a student in Germany arrived shortly after his brother went missing and was joined by the uncle and parents. Ganeshan was living in Belgium for four years. Ganeshan’s wife Vaishali Raghavendran and their child are based in India. The Embassy people and Infosys company have extended their cooperation throughout the process.
