  • MUMBAI: Fadnavis orders probe into molestation of BJP activist:: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced that the Maharashtra Women’s Commission will hold an inquiry in the alleged case of molestation involving Ganesh Pandey suspended president of BJP’s youth wing. A woman activist of the party had accused him of molesting her during an event in Mathura. The BJP too has formed an internal three member committee to probe the case. The committee consisting of Shobhatai Fadnavis, Manisha Chaoudhari and Smita Wagh.
  • MEERUT: Kanhaiya’s visit to AMU cancelled:: JNU Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar’s visit to Aligarh Muslim Univeristy for a convention on nationalism on April 2 was cancelled on Tuesday after the organizers called off the event following protests and threats by Hindutva groups and Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad.
  • NEW DLEHI: Jyoti Basu sought ban on documentary:: Back in 1983, Chief Minsiter of West Bengal Jyoti Basu wrote a letter to the then Priminister Indira Gandhi asking her to ban ‘war of the Springing Tiger’, a documentary on Netaji Subash Chandra Bose expressing strong reservations about the film produced by Granada Television. The letter dated, January 21, 1983 presents the unease in the State following the disclosure of the contents of the documentary which Basu points out denigrates Bose, calling him a clown in jackboots and projecrted as a traitor to the country. Ms Gandhi’s letter to Basu assures him that the Indian Government will take up matters with the British Government.
  • RAIPUR: Three Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh gun battle:: Three members of CPI(Maoist) were killed in a gun battle with the police in Narayanpur district of south Chhattisgarh on Tuesday according to police. Sources said that four or five more Maoists may have been injured in the encounter and were still searching for them. All our personnel are safe and recovered one INSAS rifle, one 315 rifle and three country made weapons were recovered from the spot, said Bastar IGP SRP Kalluri.
  • TRICHI: Dalit youth harassed for falling in love with Hindu girl:: A Dalit youth from Kolakudi village in Tiruchi district has alleged that he and his family are being subjected to harassment by the family of a caste Hindu girl whom he reportedly married last December but were immediately separated and the girl was married off to another person. The youth T.Balaji, the first graduate from his family working as a teacher in a private school alleged that the girl’s family had also taken away his educational certificates. He said that no action had been taken despite repeated complaints made in Thathaiyengarpettai police station Musiri Deputy Superintendent of Police and with Tiruchi District Collector.
