The Minister of Health Dr.Kamineni Srinivas has said that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)in association with the State government will set up an institution here soon.
The Minister said that it will take up an in-depth study of the causes of chronic kidney disease prevalent in the Uddhanam region. ‘The modalities will be finalized during my visit to New Delhi during this month’, he said.
Pension for patients:: The Minister said that the government has established five dialysis units in places such as Sompeta, Palasa, Tekkali, Srikakulam and Palakonda. ‘We plan to provide the patients a pension of Rs.1,500 after consultation with the Chief Minister. He promised to arrange medical camps during the weekly shandies in the tribal areas. We will encourage the doctors working in the tribal areas by warding them with bonus marks that will help them get a seat in the PG courses’, he said.
Dr.Srinivas visited the area hospital at Rampachodavaram and the Tulasipeta primary health centre and inaugurated the rapid response vehicle at Chinturu. He said that Chaprarai incident would be made a case study for other Agency areas. He said that incentives would be given to doctors who came forward to work in Agency areas. Those interested in pursuing PG courses would be encouraged after their stint.
