The Hyderabad High Court today directed the State government to hold fresh auctions for Sadavarthi lands.

A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Uma Devi asked the State government to conduct fresh auction fixing the minimum price as Rs.27.4 crore.

The amount of rs.27.4 crore was paid by A.Ramakrsihna Reddy, YSRCP MLA from Mangalagiri. He filed a PIL in the court complaining that the 83 acres belonging to the Choultry in Chennai was sold off for a paltry Rs.22.4 crore in fixed auction. He made serious allegations against the government.

The State government contended that the land was under encroachment and the best price was fetched in the auction. It was averred that the petitioner might be asked to deposit Rs.5 crore more than the higher bidder to substantiate his allegation. He paid the amount on the directions of the High Court.

The Court directed that the advertisement has to be given in three major daily newspapers and inform the petitioner about the auction date. After the auction is completed, the report may be submitted to the court. The case was listed on September 21.
