The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation has entered into a MoU with six firms as part of its plans to promote tourism.

Of this, four are related to five star hotels – GTR, GKR, Minerva an Matrix-which will come up in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The other MoUs were entered into with Balaji Resorts and RD Resorts. The MoUs were singed in the presence of Minister for Tourism Bhuma Akhila Priya who assumed office on Friday at the Interium Secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government planned temple tourism circuits. Ahobilam in Kurnool district would also be developed as part of it, she said. The government plans to develop Visakhapatnam as a tourist hub in view of a major attractions like beach. A train between Visakhapatnam and Araku was on the cards. The train would have state-of-the art coaches with a glass ceiling a big window to enable the passengers to enjoy the view.

Akhila Priya said that the Telugu language would be used in imparting skill development training. An app with Telugu as medium of instruction would be developed for the skill development. She signed the first file relating to financial assistance to cultural organizations and artists. The needy can submit their application online at Mee-Seva centres across the State.

APTDC Chairman V.Jayarami Reddy, Tourism secretary N.Srikanth and Tourism Director Girija Sankar were among those present.
