Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today flagged off the automatic refuse compactor (ARC) vehicles at his camp office.

The ARC vehicles are Municipal Solid Waste Rules-2016 compliant for transportation and garbage through closed containers. Load carrying capacity of the ARC vehicles is 60% more than other vehicles carrying loose garbage. The collection and transportation cost would be reduced by 40 per cent. The problem of spillage of garbage and leachate leakages can be addressed.

Tenders have been finalized for procurement of 140 ARC vehicles of 14 cubic metre cum compactors. The vehicles would be used in 110 urban local bodies in the State. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.50 crore.
