The TDP national president and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has selected K.E.Prabhakar, brother of K.E.Krishna Murty as the candidate for the by-elections in Kurnool district.
Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with leaders from the district on Monday too. He discussed the issue of selection of candidates with leaders in two spells. He spoke to the aspirants as well and assured them that the party would give an opportunity in future to those candidates who were not considered at this time. The last date for nominations is Tuesday.
YSRCP State secretary B.Y.Ramaiah said today that the party president Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided not to field the party nominee in the ensuring Kurnool MC bye-elections as the TDP managed to win the MLC seat twice by undemocratic means and made a mockery of elections although the YSRCP had a majority.
Speaking to media, he said that the party had a majority in the local bodies in the district, the TDP had won the MLC seat with a margin of 160 votes and by 62 votes the second time.. The TDP was all out to win the MLC election with its money power, he alleged.
Since, the YSRCP has already announced that it would not be in the fray. So, the election is likely to be unanimous unless independent candidates or other parties field their candidates.
