Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has in a report said that out of the 31 Chief Ministers in the Country, Andhra Pradesh State Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is the richest with Rs.177 crore of assets.
The ADR in its report said that Chandrababu Naidu declared Rs.177 crore followed by Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh with Rs.129 crore, Amarinder Singh with Rs.48 crore. The Chief Ministers having lowest assets are Manik Sarkar of Tripua of Rs.26 lakhs, Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal with Rs.30 lakhs and Mehbooba Mukfti of J&K with Rs.55 lakhs.
As for those with criminal cases pending against them, 35% or 11 of the 31 Chief Ministers have criminal charges against them. Further, 26% Chief Ministers have declared serious criminal cases including related to murder, attempt to murder, cheating and dishonesty including delivery of property and criminal intimidation among others.
On educational qualification, 10% of the 31 Chief Ministers are 12th pass, 39% graduate, 32% graduate professional, 16% post graduate and 3% doctorate.
