Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today announced the launch of ‘Pelli Kanuka’ scheme aimed at helping the brides belonging to poorer and disadvantaged sections of the society.
Announcing the scheme, he said that the government would credit Rs.20,000 to BPL families and Rs.50,000 each to those belonging to Scheduled Casts, Tribes and minorities. The amount would be credited on the day of marriage after thorough verification.
Intintiki Telugu Desam:: Kicking off Intintiki Telugu Desam programme at Tettangi village of Veeraghattam mandal, the interacted with the families and enquiring about the implementation of welfare schemes. Addressing a public meeting, he said that 18 lakh houses would be constructed in the State.
Chandrababu came heavily on the YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the latter’s remarks during the Nandyal by-poll, ‘ We were taught to respect elders, but the Leader of the Opposition is making harsh comments, It is time people reacted’, he said.
He promised to appoint one party activist to take care of 25 families in each village.
