Centre responds to TDP MPs’ demands to expedite bifurcation issues

Following protests from TDP MPs in the Parliament, the Centre has finally responded to resolve the bifurcation issues on a speedy manner.

The demands include bridging of revenue deficit and railway zone and implementation of AP Bifurcation Act in letter and spirit. According to TDP sources, the decision was taken after a two hour long joint meeting of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and BJP president Amit Shah and Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S.Chowdary today.

The Union Ministers are believed to have told Sujana Chowdary that the Centre would bridge the gap for the ten month period in 2014-15 too. On Railway zone, they assured to favorably considered. It would also ensure timely release of funds promised under Special Assistance Measure that was evolved as alternative mechanism in lieu of Special Category Status and through Externally Aided Project route as requested by the State.

Earlier in the day, the Union Finance Minister said that the Centre had already paid Rs.3,979 crore for 2014-15 and discussions were on with regards to the remaining amount. The remaining amount of the gap between the Centre and the State too had come down.
