Boat tragedy - ‘Criminal case on the boat organizers’, says DGP Samba Siva Rao

The DGP N.Sambasiva Rao said that a criminal case would be slapped on the organizers of the ill-fated boat. Speaking to media on Sunday night, he said that the but was in the river in violation and crossing the limits. He said that the Chief Minister has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The Principal Secretary for Tourism Mukesh Kumar Meena said that the department has started inquiry into the incident. The private boating have no permission to run up to Ferry and only permissions were given for small boats up in Punnami Ghat only.

NDRF in two teams each team comprising of 30 personnel have participated in search operations. The State Disaster Management members (45) have participated along with 60 personnel from Fire department took part in the operations. They were searching for the missing persons in 12 boats.

Post-mortem conducted at midnight:: According to sources, to cover-up the failure of the government, post-mortem was held in the hospital in violation. The administration in anticipation of trouble of protests from the relatives of the deceased had called for the forensic doctors and conducted the post-mortem. Ministers Narayana and Chinarajappa supervised the post-mortem process. It may be recalled that initial reports on Sunday said that Boat overturns killing at least 12 tourists in River Krishna.

State announces Rs.10 lakh as ex-gratia

The AP Home Minister announced that Rs.10 lakh will be paid to the family members of the deceased as an ex-gratia. This includes Rs.5 lakh through Chandranna Bheema and those who do not have this will get another Rs.5 lakhs from the government. During this course, the Chief Minister announced that those who do not have Chandranna Bheema would be paid Rs.8 lakhs as ex-gratia.
