The district administration is yet to acquire 131 acres of land at Kancheru, Gudepuvalasa and Kavulavada for the Bhogapuram International Airport project while bids for executing the project are likely to be finalized in a couple of months.
The extent of land for the airport is planned on 5,311 acres has further reduced to 2,700 acres and compensation paid to the displaced families according to S.Srinivasa Murty, RDO of Vizianagaram. He said that the VUDA had been entrusted with the task of developing the R&R locations at Polipalli and Gudepuvalasa for the 376 displaced families.
Meanwhile, the families, particularly of Atmaramuni Agraharam and Korada Peta which would be submerged completely, displaced by the Tarakarama Theertha Sagar are now demanding R&R package as LA Act 2013.
Though 40 per cent of the work on the Tarakarama Theertha Sagar had been completed so far, the government was yet to settle the R&R package to the families of the fully submerged villages.
