  • Amaravati:: 39,673 candidates in competition for 494 Communication Constable posts:: As many as 39,673 candidates are competing for 494 communication constable posts. It means that 80 candidates compete for one post. The written test held for the posts at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool. APPRB Chairman Atul Singh announced that the results will be announced within a fortnight. The key can be downloaded form www.reruitment.appolice.gov.in. and objections if any can be sent through mail apslprbpc.obj@gamil.com before 5pm on February 1, 2017.
  • Araku Valley(Visakhapatnam):: CPI demands while paper on expenditure on SC/ST sub plan:: CPI leader K.Ramakrishna has demanded the government to release a white paper on the expenditure under SC/ST sub plan. He was here on Sunday as part of bus yatra from Itchapuram to Hindupur covering 175 assembly constituencies. He said that the government that allocated 22 per cent of grants to SC/ST sub pan for 2016-17, not even fifty percent of the funds were spent . He said that the government has allocated Rs.9,394 crore but spent only 5,174 up to December 2016. Out of Rs.3,395 crore allocated to SCs only Rs.1,876 crore were spent, he said and diverted the funds.
  • Simhachalam (Visakhapatnam):: Telangana Rajya Sabha Member Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar supports SCS:: Telangana Rajya Sabha member Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar who was here to have darshan of Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy said that he extends support for the agitation for Special Category Status for the State of Andhra Pradesh. He said after bifurcation of the State, Andhra Pradesh has deficit budget and has to construct State Capital, and definitely has the need for SCS.

He was here to have darshan of Sanischara temple and performed pujas. He said that he will not speak about politics but everyone has to fight for SCS beyond political lines, he said.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Brandix India Apparel City signs four MoUs – gets investment of Rs.250 crore:: Brandix India Apparel City has signed four MoUs with the State government with an investment of Rs.250 crore that would create 3,000 new jobs. Two Chinese companies Leung Fung Textiles and Tian Yuan and two Indian companies Aggarwal Elastics and Manav Packaging in the textile park at Atchutapuram. According to a press release, the new companies will generate around 3,000 jobs.
  • Visakhapatnam:: GVMC polls – Legal hurdles comes into way:: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P.Narayana said that a date on holding of elections to the GVMC can be taken only after the legal hurdles are cleared. He said that court cases were pending regarding the merger of some areas with the GVMC and registration of voters could take at least three months. A decision would be taken only after these were completed, he said.
  • Vizianagaram:: Former TDP MLC Varada Rama Rao quits TDP:: Former MLC (TDP) and leader of Bobbili Assembly Constituencyj Vasireddy Varadarama Rao resigned the primary member of Telugu Desam Party. He expressed his agony the way the government deals with the Opposition Party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is fighting for SCS. He sent his resignation letter to TDP district president Dwarapureddy Jagadish. He will shortly announce his future course of action. It may be recalled that his father Vasireddy Krishnamurthy Naidu worked as Minister . He worked as the President of Cooperative Central Bank, two times as MLA and one time MLC.
  • Hyderabad:: YSRCP to explore the possibility of no-confidence motion against the Centre:: The YSRCP has decided to raise the issue of grant of Special Category Status to the State during the Budget session of Parliament commencing January 31. YSRCP Parliamentary Party held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday. It resolved to consult likeminded opposition parties to explore the possibilities of tabling a no-confidence motion against the Central Government for failing to honour the promise of grant of SCS to the State. Party MP Y.V.Subba Reddy had already moved a private member’s bill seeking grant of SCS and would move another resolution seeking on the petition made by the party under provisions of the Anti-Defection Law seeking disqualification of members who crossed over to the ruling TDP>
