Amaravati:: State Secretariat Staff elections on February 9:: The State Secretariat employees association elections will be held on February 9. The nominations will be accepted for 9 posts from January 30 to February 1. Candidates are allowed to withdraw nominations on February 2. The elections will be held for the president, two vice-presidents, one secretary, one additional secretary and three joint secretaries and a treasurer post.
Amaravati:: Group I interviews from February 13:: The interviews for the 2011 Group I posts will be held from February 13 to 15. It may be recalled that the mains were held from September 14 to 24 in line with the directions of the Supreme Court. The APPSC has on Tuesday announced the eligible candidates for the interviews. The interviews will be held in the ratio of 1:2 and a total of 290 candidates have been called for.
Tirupati:: Ratha Saptami festival to go on live:: The TTD has decided to telecast the annual ‘Ratha Saptami’ live on February 3. TTD Executive Officer D.Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday said efforts were on to provide hassle-free darshan of both the main deity inside the temple and those of the processions to the devotees. The live telecast would help those who could not make it to the town to witness the processions of the deity on various ‘vahanams’. He said that ‘arjitha sevas’ performed inside the temple stand cancelled and the privileged forms of darshans dispensed with.
Visakhapatnam:: Centralizing of JNTU-K libraries mooted:: A Central Library building and Data Technology Laboratory were inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of JNTU-Kakinada V.S.S.Kumar on Tuesday at Nadimpalli Satyanarayana Raju Institute of Technology. He said the State and the Centre governments were contemplating centralizing the libraries of JNTU-K and list of colleges affiliated to it. He said that students can access study material and the content through their mobile phones, computer and other digital platforms.
Visakhapatnam:: Mass singing of National Anthem:: The mass singing of National Anthem by over 5,000 students including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers from different schools and colleges assembled at the Alwar Das Sports Stadium on Tuesday evoked good response. Speaking on the occasion, Panchayat Raj Minister Ch.Ayyanna Patrudu said the spirit of nationalism among the youth should be inculcated at an early age. He said teachers should take pains to decipher the meaning of the national anthem and not merely make students sing it on the school campus.
Visakhapatnam:: Ganta Srinivasa Rao distributes fishing boats:: HRD Minsiter Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the government was committed to the fishermen community and has allocated funds as never before. He said that houses were constructed and compensation paid to fishermen who had suffered losses in Hudhud. He distributed 15 boats, motors, nets, GPS equipment, 24 two wheelers and mini truck to 56 fishermen of Bheemunipatnam.
