Chittoor:: Major fire in Amara Raja group unit:: A major fire broke out at the Mangal Industries, a subsidiary of Amar Raja Group at Petamitta village of Puthalapattu mandal on Saturday. However, no casualties were reported. Sources said that a damage to the building and industrial equipment has been put at Rs.20 crore. Sources said that a spark emanated from the control panel at the zin coating segment of the unit at around 8am resulting in the fire. Around 300 workers inside the unit were emerged out safely. Fire tenders that were pressed put out the fire by 11am.
Rajamahendravaram:: State failed to check corruption’, says BJP MLC Veeraraju:: The State government has filed to take steps to check corruption in various fields, said BJP MLC Somu Veeraraju. He said that had the government taken proper steps, demonetization would have given effective results while speaking to media. He said that the government was incurring a loss of Rs.900 crore a month through unauthorized sale of liquor. He said that the government is providing eggs to children at the rate of Rs.4.70 when the market price per egg is Rs.3.50. He alleged that inferior quality red gram was being sourced through 55,000 ICDS centres at Rs.120 per kg while the open market price was Rs.71 per kg.
Tirumala:: ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya’ release likely on February 10:: Actor Nagarjuna putting an end to the speculation on the release of his movie ‘ Om Namo Venkatesaya’ said on Saturday that the film was likely to hit the screen on February 10. He said that the film is yet to clear the censor formalities. The actor played the lead role of ‘Sadhu Hathiram Baba’ in the movie and the movie was directed by Raghavendra Rao.
Visakhapatnam:: First swine flu death:: Visakhapatnam recorded the first swine flu death in this year and the second in the State. A 26 year old homemaker succumbed to the viral disease at a private hospital here on Saturday. The woman from Pendurthy area was battling with flu-like symptoms over the last few days and was admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition. She tested positive for swine flu in two different diagnostic tests on Wednesday and was undergoing treatment. District epidemiologist and swine flu nodal officer I.Kalyan Prasad said the number of suspected swine flu cases had increased to 13 in the district. He said that the first swine flu death was reported from Chittoor.

He received the award in Chennai from Tamil Nadu Minister for Education, Sports and Youth Welfare K.Pandiyarajan at a function organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Committee for Professional Accountants in Business and Industry.
Vijayawada:: Central teams tour the State on drought:: Three central teams will tour the State on January 23 and 24 to make an assessment of the drought conditions. They will take stock of the situation in Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Prakasam and Nellore districts. The teams led by Amitabh Gautam, J.K.Rathore and G.Rambabu will interact with farmers and meet the Chief Minister and other officials on January 25.

Hyderabad:: AP and TS to list properties of APSRTC and AP Dairy:: The Department of Home Affairs a few days ago held a meeting with the officials of both the States about division of assets of some institutions listed in Schedule IX of AP Reorganization Act. The Division of APSRTC, APAGROS, AP Dairy Development Corporation and AP Foods ran into trouble when differences arose on what the constituted the definition of Head Quarters. The Union Government wanted the both the States to submit details of all the properties of the four institutions in two weeks’ time.
