Ten held on charge of smuggling red sanders

Tirupati:: The police arrested ten persons in connection with the red sanders smuggling in the forest areas abutting the LIC training centre near Sattupalli of Tirupati rural mandal on Saturday. East DSP (Tirupati Urban) M.Muni Ramaiah, the accused who had already cut down red sanders trees, were found transporting the logs during the early hours.

Leaders of Left parties arrested

Srikakulam:: P.Madhu of the CPI(M) JV Satyanarayana Murthy of the CPI, D.Govinda Rao of the CITU and few other leaders of the Left Parties were arrested near Hiramandalam on Saturday when they were proceeding to meet the displaced families of the Vamsadhara project. Tension prevailed when the leaders alleged that the government was using police force and foisting false cases against those who raised their voice.

ONGC plugs gas leak

Antervedi(EG):: There was panic for a few minutes among people after observing a minor gas leak from the ONGC 49/4 well near Kesavadasupalem of Antervedi mandal on Saturday. An ONGC emergency team rushed to the spot and the well was closed and the leakage isolated and de-pressurized.

BJP plans for mass contact programmes

Tirupati:: The BJP will be embarking on mass contact programmes to spread awareness on the welfare schemes launched by the Central government, party’s State secretary Suresh Reddy has said today. He said that the response of the people across the country to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi was positive. In the past three years, the Modi government achieved several milestones and worked for the uplift of the backward classes, he said.

11 crore ‘Kasula Haram’ donated

Tirumala:: A US based NRI Ramalinga Raju today donated a golden ‘Kasula haram’ worth Rs.11 crore to the temple of Lord Venkateswara. About 30kg of gold is expected to have gone into the making five layered haram which would be adorned to the main deity inside the temple. The devotee handed over the necklace to TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal in the presence of Chief Minsiter Chandrababu Naidu at Ranganayakula mandapam.

RDO suspended in rehabilitation package scam

Kurnool:: The multi-crore Gandikota rehabilitation package scam in Kadapa district is likely to be entrusted to the CID for a comprehensive inquiry. The State government has ordered suspension of Jammalamadugu RDO M.R.Vinayakam in connection with the case. District Collector T.Babu Rao Naidu served a show-cause notice on Vinayakam following charges of irregularities in the disbursal of rehabilitation package in the name of fictitious beneficiaries.
