Vijayawada:: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao visited RGUKT Nuzvid IIIT today. He enquired about the recent incident of attack on juniors by seniors in which 13 students suffered injuries. He spoke to the Vice Chancellor, Director, Administrative Officer and Disciplinary and Anti-Ragging Committee members. He interacted with the injured students. After visiting the students dormitories, classrooms, canteens and asked them to concentrate on studies. Speaking to the media, he said steps would be taken to appoint permanent staff in the IIITs.
Kurnool:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today said that he would urge the Krishna River Management Board to release water for the State. ‘Water available is insufficient, but the government is releasing water to meet irrigation and drinking needs’, he said before joining the ‘Bharat Yatra’ led by Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi.
Tirumala:: The TTD has obtained a central licence from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for both its famed laddu and the food which it distributes free among the devotees under the Nitya Annaprasadam scheme. The TTD though equipped with a state-of-the art laboratory to certify the quality of laddu and anna prasadams on daily basis did not have any central licence. The TTD applied for a licence last month and got a certificate for both laddu and Annaprasadam. This came following a complaint filed by a Bengaluru based activist with the FSSAI in July alleging that laddus were being prepared in unhygienic surroundings that prompted the FSSAI to direct the Central Licensing Authority in Chennai to inspect the central kitchen and submit a report. It made it clear that laddu is a food item as defined under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.

Amaravati:: DGP N.Sambasiva Rao has directed the police officials to register a case against writer and Prof. Illaiah according to sources. It may be recalled that protests are on in the State over his controversial book ‘Komotollu Samajika Smagglarlu’. The direction of the DGP came following complaints from Arya Vysya representatives.
