Officials seize 18 shrimp hatcheries

Kakinada:: Following instructions from the District Collector Kartikeya Misra, officials of the Fisheries Department today seized 18 shrimp hatcheries-17 on Thondangi and one in Uppaka Kothapalli on the city outskirts. The officials earlier identified 41 hatcheries that did get themselves registered with the Coastal Aquaculture Authority and issued show cause notices.

Debt ridden cotton farmer commits suicide

Kurnool:: A debt-ridden cotton farmer Kuruva Ranganna (30) committed suicide by consuming pesticide in Alwala village of Gonegandla mandal in Kurnool district. Ranganna, who owned five acres of land incurred a deb of Rs.1.50 lakh by cultivating cotton in Khariff. He already had a debt of Rs.3 lakh due to poor yield last year, his wife Munemma said.

JSP to launch online membership drive

Vijayawada:: The Jana Sena Party is set to launch its online membership drive in a few days after successfully piloting a customized software and getting the go-ahead from its president Pawan Kalyan. According to a release, Pawan Kalyan inspected the process at the party’s headquarters in Hyderabad.

’Will not quit Congress’, says Kotla Jayasuryaprakash Reddy

Kurnool:: Former Union Minister Kotla Jayasuryaprakash Reddy refuted reports being circulating in the social media that he will soon be quitting the Congress party. He refuted reports that his wife and former MLA Kolta Sujathamma was going to the TDP. He accused the Chief Minsiter of betraying the Rayalaseema region, he prophesized that the TDP would not regain power in the next general elections. He said that he would skip his birthday celebrations on Monday and instead lead a ‘maha dharna’ by the onion farmers at the market yard. He consoled the families of onion farmers Ramudu and Ediga Dastagiri Goud who committed suicide. He gave away cash assistance of Rs.10,000 each to the family of the deceased farmers.

Sainik School entrance examination on January 7, 2018

Kaligiri:: The entrance examination for admission in the class 6, 9 in Sainik Schools will be held on January 7, 2018. The examination in Optical Mark Recognition based one. Those who were born in between July 2, 2007 to July 1, 2008 are eligible for admission into class 6 while those born in between July 2, 2004 and July 2, 2005 are eligible for admission into class 9.
