BJP takes up plantation drive

Srikakulam:: BJP took up the plantation drive on the premises of Ravivalasa td its surrounding areas today as part of Seva Diwas programme. It would continue till Gandhi Jayanti. BJP Tekkali in-charge Hanumanthu Udaya Bhaskar and senior leader Reddi Babu and others said that the plantation was need of the hour in rural areas too. Prof. Udaya Bhaskar said that all BJP leaders and workers would rededicate themselves in taking up the activities.

SBI property show gets underway

Srikakulam:: SBI general manager Raghuram Shetty today said that the SBI waived the processing fee on home loans during the Dasara seaons to benefit the public and the realty sector. He formally launched two-day SBI property show in which 20 real estate companies participated. SBI officers’ Association representative C.Koteswara Rao said the branches in semi-urban areas would also sanction home loans to those interest if they come with income proof and income tax returns.

Construction firm fined

Vijayawada:: A construction firm found negligently dumping mud on the ITI road here has been imposed with a fine of Rs.5,000 by the Municipal Commissioner J.Nivas on Saturday.

Junior doctors call off strike

Tirupati:: The junior doctors who have been protesting over the delay in payment of stipends for the past one week called off their strike today morning. JUDA members said that except for ten members (who had one month stipend credited in their account), everyone received their five month stipend. With the hospital management’s assurance that the remaining dues would be credited in a couple of days, said the Junior Doctors.

Five persons from AP killed in road accident

Guntur:: Five persons including two women were killed in a road accident reported nearly Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu during a pilgrimage in the wee hours of Saturday. Seven persons were also injured in the accidents. According to reports, a lorry rammed a bus near Palayamkottai Polytechnic college on the Kanyakumari Highway. Two women who were standing behind the bus and three men who were in front of the bus were crushed to death. The deceased were identified as Kanneganti Ramaiah, D.Venkata Rama Rao from Erpuru, G.Nagavardhini and K.Ratna Manikyama from Ananthavram and Subbaiah from Tenali.


GMC alumni and professor at SHC meets Chandrababu Naidu

Vijayawada:: Karthik Mikkineni, a product from Guntur Medical College who was recently appointed professor at Stanford Health Care met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today as a courtesy call. Chandrababu appreciated him for doing the Telugu people proud by becoming a faculty at the World famous Stanford Health Care. He suggested to Dr.Karthik to serve as a bridge between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and SHC in the development of health care in the State.

Kailash Satyarthi, Chief Minister to address students

Kurnool:: Nobel Peace Prize winner and children’s rights activist Kailash Satyarthi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will take part in a rally by children in Kurnool on September 19. They would participate in the rally from the Rajavihar centre to the APSP Battalion stadium, interact with students and address a meeting from 11am to 1pm.

Vijayawada:: V.Krishna from Pedana Assembly constituency has been appointed president of the BJP’s Krishna district OBC Morcha. Party district president Chigurupati Kumara Swamy gave a letter to this effect to him today.

Ban on transfer of poll related staff

Vijayawada:: The State government today issued an order filling up the vacant posts connected with the revision of electoral rolls and banning transfer of such staff and officers from November 1, 2017 to January 25, 2018. The order follows the of schedule for the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to January 1, 2018 as the qualifying date in the State by the Election Commission of India.

MS memorial award given to Dwaram Lakshmi

Vijayawada:: The prestigious music award named after Carnatic vocal doyen M.S.Subbalakshmi was given to vocalist Dwaram Lakshmi at a function organized by the Department of Language and Culture at the Ghantasala Government Music College on Saturday. She is a Doctorate in Music and is working as a Grade ‘A’ artist with AIR and Doordarshan. She is the grand daughter of the legendary violinist Dwaram Venkata Swamy Naidu.

Dasara holidays for schools from September 21

Amaravati:: The Commissioner of School Education Sandhya Rani has issued orders declaring holidays to schools on the eve of Dasara from September 21 instead of September 19 as was announced earlier. According to the orders, the holidays on account of Dasara are from September 21 to 30. The schools will reopen on October 3 as October 1 being Sunday and October 2 (Gandi Jayanti).

AGRICET-2017 results announced

Amaravati/Guntur:: AGRICET-2017 that was conducted by Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University was released by Vice Chancellor Dr.Vallabhaneni Damodar Naidu today. The first rank in Agricultural Diploma was bagged by Agriculture Polytechnic student Killadi Girish Kumar from Chintapalli, Second rank goes to P.Veerabala Raju of Anakapalli while the third rank goes to K.Umesh of Nandyal.
