Tirupati:: The red sanders sleuths arrested a woodcutter Murugan (25) hailing from Polur taluk of Tiruvanananmalai district in Tamil Nadu at a secluded spot off Karakambadi road on Sunday when he came out of the forest to get groceries. He was part of the 14-member team that had gone into the forest some four days back. Having alerted a local courier Madhu to fetch vegetables, Murugan came out of the forest to receive them. The officials who went in the guise of Madhu, rounded him up and took him into custody.
Ongole:: Two persons drowned in the Bay of Bengal while another person is missing after they drifted into deep waters while having a holy dip in the sea at Ramapuram near Chirala in Prakasam district today. A group of women slowly drifted towards the danger zone while performing ‘samudra snanam’ to mark the conclusion of the auspicious Karthika masam said Special Branch SP U.Nagaraju. A group of men tried to rescue them but during the course two youngsters were swept away. Among the rescued women, Parvati (30) and Jyothi (32) were rushed to the hospital at Chirala where the doctors declared brought dead.
Vijayawada:: The State government has decided to organise AgTech Summit as a calendar event according to Special Chief Secretary (Agriculture) B.Rajasekhar. The decision was taken following its success in Visakhapatnam. The government received 259 applications from app developers located in 61 countries. Of these 61 pertained to pre-harvest and 52 post-harvest handling. As many as 234 apps pertained to agriculture and 142 related to horticulture. Eighty apps were regarding livestock and 132 pertained to cross cutting. He said that work shops would be conducted on November 28 and December 4.
