Assembly session on May 16, 2017

Amaravati:; The Andhra Pradesh State Assembly will meet on May 16 a special session to pass the GST bill. The Assembly Secretary K.Satyanarayana has issued a notification on Wednesday. The Bill has to be passed in the Assembly to get it implemented in the State.

Fire safety equipment mandatory for apartments

Amaravati:: AP Fire Services Director General K.Satyanarayana said that apartments should be equipped with fire fighting equipment. He said as many as 67 cases were booked for violations. He held a review meeting with the district officials on Wednesday. Speaking to media, he said that he had directed the officials to register cases on the violators.

Mother and two daughters found dead in a tank

Chittoor:: A homemaker, Harika (29) allegedly committed suicide along with her two daughters Lohita (6) and Tejasri (4) by jumping into the Thamargunta tank at Ramireddipalle village of Varadaiahpalem mandal on Wednesday. She married to a dhaba owner seven years ago. During the last couple of years, the couple were said to be quarrelling frequently over domestic issues said the police sources.

GoM to evaluate capital designs

Vijayawada:: The State government on Wednesday constituted a Group of Ministers for evaluating, examining an making recommendations on the master plan ad urban design guidelines of the High Court, Assembly, Secretariat and offices of Head of the Departments and other related buildings. The GoM will be headed by Finance and Planning, Commercial Tax and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

Narayana institutions remain closed

Nellore:: The untimely death of Nishith, son of the Minister for Municipal Administration P.Narayana was condoled by the staff of Narayana Educations Institutions on Wednesday. The colleges and schools remained closed for the day. Arrangements were being made for the last rites to be performed in Nellore. Narayana who was in London is rushing back.

AP is investor friendly, says Chinese team

Vijayawada:: Andhra Pradesh is investor-friendly was the observation of a Chinese delegation that visited Amaravati on Wednesday. They interacted with Industries Minister Amarnath Reddy and other officials on the investment opportunities. Shenyang Municipal People’s Congress Chairman Pan Liguo who led the delegation explained about the Shenyang city development and said he liked the climate in Andhra Pradesh. Many Chinese firms had already set up their base in the country. The officials explained the visiting delegation the investment opportunities, growth prospects and the achievements of the State during the last couple of years.

16 students suspended in Sri Venkateswara University

Tirupati:: The Principal of SV University Engineering College has placed 16 students under suspension on Wednesday for taking Hukka on April 17. The students were caught by the officials while taking Hukka on April 17 in Viswateja block. The suspension of the students came following a report by an enquiry committee. Out of 16 students, 8 students were suspended till end of the academic year while three for 14 days and two for one month, one for one week and two for two weeks.

Web options for MDS seats on May 13

Vijayawada:: Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences Registrar Appala Naidu said that the students can select web options for MDS course on May 13 from 6am to 8pm. The allotment of seats will be made on May 14. He said that the candidates who were qualified in NEET for admissions into Lenora Dental College for Christian minority students to appear on May 12 from 10am to 5pm with original certificates, he said.
