  • Ongole:: Demand for SCS gets louder:: The protests seeking SCS to the state have grown louder with activists of various parties and civil society organizations taking the street to exert pressure on the Centre to concede the ‘just demand’. YSRCP Chief whip in Parliament Y.V.Subba Reddy leading a demonstration in front of the Collectorate today said that ‘ we will wage a struggle within and outside the Parliament along with like-minded parties from March 5 and get ready for the final showdown at the fag-end of the session’. Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who has taken a short break after the long march of 100 days would flag off a bus yatra of the MPs on March 3, he said.
  • Guntur:: Congress, CPI(M) unveil action plan for SCS:: PCC president N.Raghuveera Reddy announced the action plan at a meeting held here today. He said the party activists would block national highways in the State on Friday and on March 5, file cases under Section 420 in police stations in New Delhi. The party would launch relay fasts on March 6 and 7 and lay siege to Parliament on March 8. On March 9, the party leaders would meet the Election Commission and demand de-recognition of the TDP and the BJP for failing to fulfil the promise of granting SCS for 10 years. CPI(M) secretary P.Madhu alleged that the TDP and the BJP were resorting to a political drama to divert people’s attention. They would hold a candlelight rally in Visakhapatnam on Marc 4 demanding SCS and railway zone.
  • Tirupati:: TTD EO pays tributes to Kanchi pontiff:: TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal today visited Kanchipuram and paid tributes to Sri Jayendra Saraswati, the 69th pontiff of the Kanchi mutt, who died on Wednesday. Singhal formally presented a sandalwood piece and ‘parivattam’ to the mutt on behalf of the temple and took part in the ‘Brundavan Pravesam’, the final rites that went on for over four hours.
  • Chittoor:: Leopard kills calf at Tamballapalle:: A full-grown leopard reportedly killed a calf after attacking a herd of cattle at Peddakurappalle village of Tamballapalle mandal today. According to information, the cattle were grazing on a mound close to Mallahkonda hills when the leopard emerged and attacked a calf. When some farmers raised an alarm, the leopard vanished into the bushes. Forest officials from Madanapalle division rushed to the spot and inspected the scene. They said that a cage would be arranged to trap the big cat.
  • Vijayawada:: Fact finding panel report on March 3:: Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan and members of the Joint Fact-finding Committee that was constituted to examine the bifurcation issues will meet in Hyderabad on Thursday according to a release. The meeting resolved to reveal the findings of the JFC on March 3. The JFC will continue discussions on March 2 and 3 and then come up with its observations on whom to pin the responsibility for the plight of the State.
