AITUC State level rally

Vijayawada:: AITUC State secretary G.Obulesu said at a press conference today that a rally, ‘Sramika Jana Garjana’ would be taken out on June 28 from the Lenin Centre to the Labour Commissioner’ Office seeking a solution to labor problems particularly issues relating to contract and outsourcing employees.

Bhagavata Sadas

Tirupati:: The TTD will organize a two day ‘Bhagavata Sadas’ at the Annamacharya Kalamaindr in Tirupati from June 28. The TTD had published the books authored by Bammera Pothana with ‘Sarala Telugu Vyakhyanam’ and released them during the annual Brahmotsavams at Vontimitta in April last. The 33 pundits who had worked to bring the best volumes in Telugu would be felicitated during the conclave.

CPI demands to declare health emergency in Agency

Vijayawada:: The CPI State secretary K.Ramakrishna has urged the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to declare health emergency to save lives of tribal people in the Agency areas. In a letter to the Chief Minister, he said that 16 tribal people died in Chaparai village of Y.Ramavaram mandal in East Godavari district. He asked the government to pay ex gratia of Rs.5 lakh to the family members of the deceased.

APBWC chairman Andhra Surya slams YSRCP MLA Kona Raghupati

Vijayawada:: Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation chairman Ananda Surya today took objection to Brahmana Atma Gaurava Sabha organized by YSRCP MLA Kona Raghupati in protest against the sacking of IYR Krishna Rao from the post. Speaking at a press conference, he said the MLA and other Brahmins did not raise their voice when IAS officer Sri Lakshmi was suspended and sent to jail. Many IAS officers were booked then ‘Why did not they organize Atma Gaurava Sabhas when Sri Lakshmi was sent to jail?’, he asked. Ananda Surya asked them to conduct atma pariseelana Sabhas instead of Atma Gaurava Sabhas.

Chandrababu Naidu releases Godavari water to Krishna canal

Vijayawada:: After releasing Godavari water pumped by the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project to the Krishna Eastern Delta from the Prakasam Barrage here speaking to media said that farmers would have suffered irreparable loss if the TDP bucked under criticism of rival political parties and failed to build the PLIP. Twelve pumps of the PLIP were switched on to lift water from the Godavari into the Polavaram Right Main Canal a few days ago. About two tmcft is said to have reached the Prakasam Barrage since then.

Former MLA Kunja Biksham traced

Tirumala:: Former MLA Kunja Biksham who went missing after coming out of the temple along with his family members on Saturday was traced at Karakkambadi village near Tirupati. He was elected twice to the Assembly in 1989 and 1994 from the Burghampahad constituency in Khammam district. Family members lodged a police complaint said that he had been suffering from loss of memory for quite some time.

Social boycott-SC panel members seeks action

Eluru:: Member of the National Commission for SCs K.Ramulu confirmed that the Dalits of Christianpeta in Garagaparru village of Palakoderu mandal were subjected to social boycott by the upper caste and directed the West Godavari district administration to initiate action against the accused besides taking steps to ensure the prevalence of normalcy in the village. He interacted with the victims in the presence of the District Collector K.Bhaskar and SP M.Ravi Prakash.

PIL filed seeking ban the movie of Duvvada Jagannadham

Hyderabad:: A Public Interest Litigation petition was filed by Gagulapati Krishna Mohan from Ranga Reddy seeking banning of the movie ‘Duvvada Jagannadham’ until the removal of pious words ‘Namakam’ ‘Chamakam’ in romantic scenes. The petitioner made the Regional Censor Board officer, Venkateswara creations, DGP and others as respondents. Acting Chief Justice of High Court Ramesh Ranganathan will hear the case on Tuesday. The petitioner told the court that in spite of appeals to the movie makers to delete the pious words from the romantic songs which was unheard and leaving no option but to approach the High Court seeking directions to stop screening of the movie till they were deleted.

Diwakar Travels bus in all fitness at the time of accident

Hyderabad:: The Transport and R&B Principal Secretary Sumita Dawra in her affidavit to the High Court stated that the Diwakar Travels bus was in all fitness at the time of accident. According to rules in force, there were two drivers on board and the accident took place due to the failure of the driver to control the bus resulting in falling in a culvert. The driver who was driving the bus took the bus into his control just six hours before the accident. The drivers are having valid driving licences and the bus was bought only one year ago. The Principal Secretary filed the affidavit in response to the PIL filed by an advocate K.V.Subba Reddy. It may be recalled that on February 28, 2017 Diwakar Travels bus fell into a culvert killing at least 11 passengers and many injured

Chief Minister to launch MSME Corporation

Vijayawada:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation at ‘A’ Convention Centre on June 27 marking the International Day of MSME. District Collector B.Lakshmi Kantam stated in a press release. Chandrababu will present awards to 20 best performing entrepreneurs.

Venkaiah Naidu’s remarks on loan waiver is an insult to farmers

Vijayawada:: Former Minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao has termed the Union Minister M.Venkaiah Naidu’s remark that seeking a ‘farm loan waiver has become a fashion’ is an insult. He demanded an apology from the Union Minister who claims to b farmer’s son made such comments. It showed his attitude towards the poor farmers.
