Jagan urges government to exempt handloom sector from new tax

Kurnool:: YSRCP president Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy today urged the Central Government to exempt the handloom sector from the purview of Goods and Services Tax. He heard the woes of handloom weavers who call on him assured them that he would address a letter to the Centre stating that levy of the GST would further drive the sector into a crisis and seek its exemption from the new tax. On the second day of his tour, he visited the house of a debt-ridden farmer, Harshavardhan Reddy who committed suicide at Payasampalle on June 4 and consoled his family members.

Collector reviews land acquisition works

Rampachodavaram:: East Godavari District Collector Karthikeya Mishra has asked the MRO in the Agency area to distribute the land acquired among the Polavaram evacuees immediately under the R&R package and pass awards before July 1 in the villages where distribution of land was not taken up as yet. At a review meeting, he directed the officials to take up land-for-land, resettlement and rehabilitation works in all merged mandals.

New SpiceJet service from Vijayawada-Hyderabad from July 1

Vijayawada:: In view of increasing passengers at Gannavaram airport, SpiceJet will introduce another service from here to Hyderabad from July 1. This is the third service. The Q-400 airline with a seating capacity of 78 will leave Hyderabad at 1.05pm and reach here at 2pm and leave at 2.40pm and reach Hyderabad at 3.30pm. The service will be available in all days except on Wednesdays. With this, the number of flight services will go to five a day.

Mega Lok Adalat on July 8

District Principal Sessions Judge P.Venkata Jyotirmayi said that the mega Lok Adalat will be held on July 8. She held discussions with the judges and representatives of Bar Council and advocates. She appealed them to cooperate for the success of the Lok Adalat.
