Villages identified for water conservation

Srikakulam:: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) completed water awareness programme in 500 villages in 11 mandals within four weeks. This will enable the district administration to ensure water resources in the villages. NABARD Srikakulam District Development Manager MD Vasudevan submitted a detailed report to the District Collector K.Dhanunjaya Reddy today. He said that the ambassadors who visited the villages and recommended construction of check-dams, farm-ponds, trenches, sluices in various places apart from suggesting repairs for the existing ones.

SC/ST case against Sub Inspector, driver and three constables

Kurnool:: A case was registered under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Sirivella sub-inspector Sudhakar, his driver Kalam and three police constables Tejanath Reddy, Pradeep and Brahmam on charges of torturing a Dalit youth, Adam Narasimha of Mahadevapuram of the district according to Kurnool SC/ST Cell DSP Muralidhar. Adam Narasimha was taken into custody in a group clash on June 10. When questioned about his arrest as he had not erred, the sub inspector and other accused allegedly subjected him to third degree torture said the DSP.

Chandrababu Naidu to inaugurate Celkon plant

Tirupati:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Celkon plant at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Renigunta during his visit to the city on June 22 and 23. District Collector P.S.Pradyumna visited the plant and witnessed the process of manufacturing, assembling the accessories and packing the mobile phones and also spoke to the local youths employed at the plant.

Ramzan Thofa from June 19

Amaravati:: AP Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao said that action would be taken on those who sell rice over Rs.40 per kilo. Speaking to pressmen at the Secretariat, he said that Ramzan Thofa that contains of four items that costs Rs.65.69 crore to Muslim families from June 19. This will be extended to 12 lakh Muslim families across the State, he said.
