CBI probe sought in land scam

CPI national secretary K.Narayana said on Monday that both TDP and YSRCP leaders are fully involved in the land scam at Visakhapatnam. He said that the party is ready to prove it if a judicial probe or an investigation by CBI is ordered into it. Speaking to media, he said that the ongoing investigation by SIT would not be able to bring out the truth. On a question, he said that the CPI(M) was ready to support the proposed padayatra by YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Essential food items sent to Agency mandals

Kakinada:: Keeping in view of the prevailing incessant rains in the district, the officials have transported supplies to the four agency mandals sufficient for the next two months. The civil supplies department today sent 200 quintals of rice, 100 kg of palm oil, 10 quintals of dal, 100 kg tamarind and five kilograms of turmeric to Rampachodavaram, Kunavaram, V.R.Puram and Chintoor mandals.

Chandrababu to tour Kuppam

Chittoor:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to visit Gudupalle and Kuppam mandals in the constituency on July 20 and 21. He will be arriving at the Gudupalle mandal headquarters by helicopter from Bengaluru. He will take part in a string of inauguration of stone laying ceremonies followed by public meeting at Gudupalle on July 20 said District Collector P.S.Pradyumna and SP S.V.Rajasekhar Babu.

Part-time lecturers threaten strike

Rajamahendravaram:: Part-time lecturers working in government aided colleges have decided to launch State-wide agitation if the government fails to address their long-pending issue. Ramu Surya Rao, teachers’ representative in the Legislative Council who addressed a dharna here on Monday said that thousands of lectures had been working in government colleges for 20 to 25 years without regularization.

Cent percent polling recorded in the State in Presidential election

Vijayawada:: All the 175 MLAs in the AP Legislative Assembly exercised their franchise in the presidential election on Monday. The is the first time polling for the presidential election was held in Amaravati. It went on smoothly in the committee hall in the Legislative building at Velagapudi. The four BJP MLAs also cast their votes along with their ally. Probably, Andhra Pradesh is the only State where all the votes were cast to NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind with the TDP and YSRCP supporting him. The TDP has 124 Assembly members including 21 defected from YSRCP, the BJP has four while the main Opposition YSRCP has 46 MLAs.


ACB conducts raids on the residence of Social Welfare Officer

Amaravati:: ACB officials has conducted raids on the residence of the Hostel Welfare Officer Ravipati Annapoornaiah on Monday and unearthed disproportionate assets to the known sources of income. The raids were conducted simulataneously in Eluru, Mandapaka in East Godavari district and six places in Hyderabad. The accused has amassed wealth that included 2.95 acres of land, 14 house site, 11 houses, a flat in an apartment. The ACB officials also unearthed promissory notes worth Rs.9.25 lakh, Chit receipts worth Rs.11.50 lakh, house hold articles worth Rs.7.80 lakh, 4,39,162 bank balance, 175 grams of gold ornaments and 347 grams of silver.
