Srikakulam:: Workers of Varam Power Plant-Chilakapalem on Saturday staged a protest at the Collector’s officer here seeking immediate reopening of the plant to ensure livelihood for them. The workers led by CITU State vice-president D.Govinda Rao raised slogans against the government, opposing its power policy. They said that over 15,000 persons working in different biomass plants had lost livelihood with the government stopping power purchase from them.
Kurnool:: YSRCP leader Chinnapu Reddy was grievously injured when miscreants waylaid and attacked him with hunting sickles near the vegetable market in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district on Friday night. Chinnapu Reddy sustained injuries on his head and hands and two fingers of his left hand were severed in the attack according to police. Passers by rushed him to a private nursing home and then to the area hospital in Pulivendula. He was later shifted to Hyderabad on the advice of doctors.
