Red sanders smuggler held

Kurnool:: The Kadapa police today arrested Anaicut Babu alias Vellore Babu alias Murugeshan of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu along with his four key aides at the Nagulapalli cross roads on the Proddatur-Nydukur road in Chapadu mandal in Kadapa for smuggling red sanders, said SP Attada Babujee. The accused is the most wanted international red sanders smuggler residing at Katpadi in Vellore. He is an accused in 24 cases in the State.

Leopard attacks farmer

Chittoor:: Forest officials today evening captured a leopard that attacked a farmer in his fields at Nadimpalle village of Shantipuram mandal after tranquilizing it and using nets. The leopard attacked Pardhasarathi, a young farmer when he was working in his fields in the early hours of Thursday injuring him on his neck and shoulder.

Srisailam temple Executive Officer transferred

Kurnool:: The State government has posted Executive Officer of Srisailam Devasthanams Narayana Bharat Gupta as Managing Director of AP Drinking Water Supply Corporation today. The services of Bharat Gupta, a 2010 batch IAS officer are kept at the disposal of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department by withdrawing his services from the purview of the Revenue (Endowments) department. Dr.Gupta was directed to continue to hold full additional charge as EO of Devasthanam till further orders.

Six students injured

Kurnool:: Six students were injured while erecting an iron flag post for the Republic Day celebrations in a high school at Lebaka village of Vallur mandal in Kadapa district today. The students suffered electric shock when the pole came in contact with overhead power lines. They were rushed to RIMS in Kadapa.
