Srikakulam:: Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu has accused the YSRCP adopting destructive politics instead of extending its helping hand to the State government in achieving more funds from the Union government. He alleged that the YSRCP backtracked over its MPs resignations and it proved that it did not have commitment on special category status and other issues. He participated in a rally and meeting organized by Sikkolu Sainyam in connection with voters’ awareness programmes.
Arasavilli (Srikakulam):: Over 900 police personnel will oversee security arrangements for Ratha Saptami on Wednesday being celebrated at Arasavilli, the abode of Lord Suryanarayana according to District Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy and Trivikram Varma. Around 35 CCTVs would be used to monitor the movement of devotees which is expected to cross over 2 lakh. All the vehicles have to be parked on the 80 feet road. People who donated more than Rs.1 lakh were given special passes while regular passes have been cancelled.
Nellore:: Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Praja sankalpa Yatra entered the Nellore district at PCT Kandiriga village in Sullurupeta Assembly constituency today. Sullurupeta MLA Kiliveti Sanjeevaiah along with scores of party local leaders and activists welcomed him. This marked the beginning of Jagan’s yatra in south coastal Andhra Pradesh after completion of the first leg of 68 day-long padayatra in the four Rayalaseema districts of Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa and Chittoor.
Kurnool:: The Kurnool taluk police arrested Divisional Forest Officer (vigilance) B.Venkateswara Rao along with a woman at his house at Vasanth Gardens in Kurnool around mid-night of Monday. A leader of DYFI, who lodged some complaints in the past accusing of sexually abusing women, alerted the Taluk police, who arrested the official and the woman. The DFO’s family resides at Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the DFO was suspended by the higher-ups and an inquiry was ordered.
Ongole:: Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh presented All India Progressive Farmers’ Convention award to Katta Ramakrishna, in New Delhi on Tuesday. The farmer from Obbanapalem near NG Padu was selected for the award which was instituted jointly by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Outlook India magazine, by a panel headed by Indian Council of Agriculture Research Director General Niti Malhotra for carrying out innovative agronomic practices.
