Over 300 schoolkids affected by lighting

Vizianagaram:: Over 300 students of a private school at Parvathipuram complained red, water eyes and irrigation after they participated in the New Year celebrations in the school late on Sunday night. According to the RDO who has been supervising treatment of children at the school on Monday evening, the Suresh Public School had arranged high wattage lights for illumination of the stage and other areas during the celebrations. The doctors treating the children informed him that they were advised rest and there was no risk to their eyes, he said.

Kurnool:: District level sports competitions will be conducted for visually impaired persons at the Silver Jubilee Government Degree College and Government High School ground in Kurnool on January 3.

Minor girl allegedly raped

Vijayawada:: A minor girl with hearing and speech impairments was allegedly raped by a 45 year old man at her house in Gollapadu area in the city. The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the police on Monday. The victim’s family has been staying in the house of the accused, Sambaiah, who allegedly raped the giver several times. The girl would be sent for medical examination and registered a complaint, said the police.

Chief Minister to address Janmabhoomi meet at Pulivendula

Kurnool:: Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu will take part in Janmabhoomi Maa Ooru in Pulivendula constituency in Kadapa district on January 3 according to District Collector T.Babu Rao Naidu. He will arrive by helicopter at Parnapalli village in Lingala Mandal t 11.40am on January 3 and will go by road to the delivery citer point and unveil plaques of five lift irrigation points from Gandikota project to Chitravathi balancing reservoir at 12 noon. He would later address Janmabhoomi meeting at Dhyan Chand play ground in the Government Junior college at Pulivendula from 2pm to 4.30pm.

State clears administrative sanction for use of Central grant under PMAY

Vijayawada:: The State government today accorded administrative sanction for utilisation about Rs.115 crore that the Central Government has recently released as a grant for creation of capital assets under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the financial year 2017-18. The AP-TIDCO has reported that the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation has sanctioned the amount towards the first instalment of the Central Grant.

Four of family fatally run over by car

Kurnool:: Four members of a family sitting around a bonfire along the roadside after cutting a cake when the driver, allegedly in an inebriated condition of a speeding car mowed them down at Indiranagara in Pendimarry mandal of Kadapa district in the wee hours on Monday. The driver too lost his life in the mangled car and three others sustained injuries.

Rs.400 crore saved on power bills’, says Chief Minister

Amaravati:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that the government is able to save Rs.400 crore on power bills through better water management. He was reviewing the Neeru-Pragati scheme and agriculture at a video conference with the District Collectors and line department officials on Monday. He said that despite deficit rainfall in the past two years, agricultural yield could be increased with better water management.
