  • Tirupati:: Raw deal to women in Budget:: The Union Budget has nothing to offer for the welfare of women, who form 52% of the country’s total population, said AP Womens’ Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari. She maintained tht she was not supposed to talk politics by virtue of holding the official post. Speaking to media along with MLA M.Sugunamma, TDP medical wing president R.Sudha Rani and party vice-president N.Vijayalakshmi, she observed that there was no mention of any scheme for women.
  • Tirumala:: Sarva Darshan slot counters in Tirumala and Tirupati:: The TTD is setting up the slotted Sarva Darshan token vending counters both at Tirumala and Tirupati. The counters would be set up at the RTC bus station, Nandakam guest house, MBC area, the arrival point of the pilgrims trekking along the Srivari mettu route, and rear side of the CRO.
  • Vijayawada:: CM asks police to be on guard in view of bandh:: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with the DGP M.Malakondaiah and other officials on law and orders ahead of the Opposition parties’ bandh on Thursday. Sources said that he had instructed the officials to ensure that the law ad order was maintained and no untoward incident took place.
  • Vijayawada:: Ayesha Meera case-SIT begins re-investigation:: The SIT constituted by the government began re-investigation into the sensational Ayesha Meera murder case today. The B.Pharmacy student from Guntur was suspected to have been sexually assaulted and brutally murdered by some miscreants in Sri Durga Ladies Hostel in Ibrahimpatnam in December 2007. The police zeroed in on P.Satyam Babu who was awarded life imprisonment. The case took a new twist a few months ago after the High Court acquitted Satyam Babu and directed the police to book the real culprits. The SIT is headed by Ch.Srikanth, DIG, Sri Lakshmi and Hymavati, Dy.SPs and Sahera Begum, CI.
  • Vijayawada:: Another Bill of KVP Ramachandra Rao returned as Money Bill:: A second Private Member Bill proposed by Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao on amendments to the AP Reorganization Act, 2014 was rejected on the grounds that it was a ‘Money Bill’.
  • Kaligiri:: Sainik School entrance examination results:: Kaligiri Sainik School Principal Cpt. Simen Jevear said that the results will be announced on Thursday for admissions into the Sainik Schools. The results would be posted on the official website. Call letters would be sent to the selected candidates and the interview would be held from February 19 to March 10 and the final results would be announced on March 19.
