  • Vijayawada:: Jairam Ramesh has no moral right to criticise TDP:: Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu today dig at Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s allegation that the TDP took over the Polavaram project only for kickbacks. ‘People haven’t forgotten his dubious role in the bifurcation of the State’, he said. In a statement, he said the Congress leader had no moral right and locus standi to criticise the TDP. He said that Jairam was the ghost writer of the AP Reorganization Act which lacked clarity. Injustice was done to the State as the Act was drafted in a lopsided manner deliberately. The Congress was solely responsible for the gloomy economic affairs of the State.
  • Vijayawada:: BJP MLC Madhav blames TDP for delay in railzone:: BJP MLC PVN Madhav today blamed the TDP for missing an opportunity to create the Visakhapatnam railway zone in early 2000 as the former Union Minister and senior TDP leader K.Yerrannaidu did not evince interest in the matter when he was the Chairman of Railway Board. Speaking to media, he said that Yerrannnaidu, as a native of Srikakulam had an apprehension that the interests of his district would be compromised if the railway zone was carved. He said that the BP was striving for a consensus of all the stakeholders on the issue. He questioned the State how the double-digit growth of the State is possible without the help of the Centre.
  • Visakhapatnam:: Table tennis contest for children:: The table tennis competitions for children organized by Vizag Sports Journalists Association with the support of District Table Tennis Association at Port Indoor Stadium on Sunday evoked good response with participation of over 170 children. Olympic Association Visakhapatnam president TSR Prasad and AU Physical Education Department director N.Vijay Mohan, Olympiad M.V.Manikyalul said table tennis game had undergone many changes over years.
  • Chittoor:: One killed, youth hurt in bull race:: An elderly person was killed and youth from Tamil Nadu critically injured in the bull race organized at Chintamakula Palle village of V.Kota mandal in the Kuppam Police Circle today. A large number of people from Kuppam and Palamaner Assembly constituencies converged on the village for the bull race. Muneppa (60) of the village jumped into the line and tried in vain to stop a bull. The animal ploughed its horn into his ribs. He was rushed to the area hospital at Kuppam where was declared brought dead.
  • Kurnool:: Bodies of five red sanders workers retrieved:: Five bodies in the age group of 30 to 35 were retrieved from the Vontimitta tank, near the Kadapa-Chennai national highway in Kadapa district today. Police sources said that they appear to have tried to cross the tank and drowned in the process. Red sanders fellers often swim across the tank from the Vontimitta road to the other bank to reach the Vontimitta forest which is a red sanders belt, during night time.
