Tirupati:: Rani Sadasiva Murty, a professor at Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati has received the prestigious Sahitya Academy’s ‘Translation Award-2016’ under the ‘Sanskrit’ category. The award, comprising an inscribed copper plaque and cash prize of Rs.50,000 was presented to Dr.Murty by academy president Viswanath Prasad Tiwari at Agartala on Thursday. His awarded work ‘Vivikta Pushpa Karandah’ is a lucid translation of Telugu poetry ‘Ontari Puja Butta’, by Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad.
Vijayawada:: Minister for Municipal Administration P.Narayana today said laying of roads up to a length of 320 km in the capital region would be completed by the end of 2018. Inspecting various projects and roads being laid in Amaravati along with Amaravati Development Corporation chairperson D.Lakshmi Parthasarathy, the Minister said that laying of roads should be completed by 2018 to cater to the transport requirements of the capital region.
Vijayawada:: Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi founder Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy said he was invited by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to join the TDP and that he would take a decision on it soon. Speaking to media, he said that he requested the Chief Minister to take steps for speedy execution of irrigation projects in Rayalaseema region utilize surplus water in the Krishna as Karnataka tried to do the same to the detriment of the farmers in Rayalaseema.
Amaravati:: The APPSC today released the schedule for interviews of 2011 Group I candidates (294) who were qualified. The interviews will be held from January 22, 2018 to February 20. The details have been posted on the Commission’s website.
