Kurnool:: A 65 year old N.Naganna of Venkatapuram colony in Yemmiganur town in the district committed suicide by consuming a poisonous chemical fearing eye surgery. He suffered inflammation of his eyes when an insect fell in an eye at home a month ago. His sons took him to an optician who detected the infection and suggested surgery to prevent loss of vision. Naganna was reluctant to undergo surgery and when family members pressured him, he left home a couple of days ago and committed suicide.
Guntur:: A 13 month tiger cub has been rescued by the forest department from the fringes of the Nagarjuna Sugar Srisailam Forest Range at the Velugondu forest range in the district. The cub was rescued at the end of a long-dawn and intense operation led by senior officers spanning close to 48 hours in the rugged jungle terrain of Nallamala hills in the intervening night of Saturday. It is under the observation at the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati. A team of 150 had been deployed in the massive operation in which the personnel of Atmakur forest division had deployed earth movers and tractors. The officers used tranquilising guns in incapacitate the cub.

Kurnool:: Kurnool Excise Court Judge today sentenced the complainant O.Srinivasulu, in an ACB case to undergo one year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.3,000 besides ordering registration of a perjury case against him for giving false deposition in favour of two revenue officials who were trapped by ACB OFFICIALS IN 2012. The ACB officials trapped the then Bethamcherla revenue inspector Vishnu Prasad and Kothapalli Village revenue officer Dastagiri when they accepted a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant Srinivasulu for issuing pattadar passbooks, the DSP said.

Sources said that he has to produce two sureties worth Rs.25,000 each and surrender the pass port to the court. He has to sign one time in a week in the office of CBCID in Guntur.
