Vizianagaram:: Chairman of State Handicrafts Development Corporation P.Prasad told a press conference today that the government had issued order directing all departments to buy Lepakshi handicrafts for presenting them to dignitaries at functions.
Vizianagaram:: District in-charge and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that priority before the government was to develop infrastructure in all the districts and that it would be constructing integrated financial complexes each at a cost of Rs.10 crore in nine districts in the State including Vizianagaram. He laid the foundation stone for IFC (district treasury) today. He said that tenders were called for construction of additionalh classrooms, compound walls, and toilets in schools at an estimated cost of Rs.5,000 crore.
Vijayawada: A fire occurred in the 500 Megawatt (7th) unit of Dr.Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station at Ibrahimpatnam brought generation to a halt. According to NTTP’s Chief Engineer M.Padma Sujatha, fire broke out of a transformer and it caused suspension of generation. The fire was brought out with foam and repairs were undertaken immediately. She said it would take two days to complete the repairs and resume generation.
Vijayawada:: Leaders of APSRTC Employees’ Union are gearing up for a two-day protest across the State to express their resentment against ‘anti-worker’ policies of the management according to its leaders.
Tirupati:: The Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has expressed concern over ‘employment of people of alien faith’ in the service of Lord Venkateswara Swamy and has appealed to its custodian, the TTD to identify and remove them from service. Accompanied by sants and seers, the Pariashad’s AP (South) unit recently submitted a representation to the TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal requesting him to initiate action on this front and also arrange to demolish structures and symbols of the alien faith at Alipiri and on the routes leading to Tirumala Hills. It has set up December 25 as deadline for the TTD to take action.
Guntur:: A six-year-old boy was killed on the sport and three members of his family were severally injured when a paint tin exploded in their house today. The boy was identified as Jaladi Gowtham and those injured were his father Nagaraju, a painter by profession, mother Bhavani and grand mother Nagamani. The incident happened when Nagaraju tired to open an old paint tin in front of his house at Gangannaammapeta in Kolanukonda village. The injured were rushed to hospital.Sunday, December 10, 2017
