2.97 lakh cuses of water let out at Dowleswaram

Rajamahendravaram:: The flood water level at Dowleswaram barrage touched 10.30feet on Thursday following which the irrigation officials released 2.97 lakh cusecs by lifting all the 175 gates. The Head Works Department released 8,700 cusecs through canals, out of which 2,900 cuses would serve Eastern delta, 2,300 cuses Central delta and 3,500 cuses Western delta.

Nayak is CMD of Southern Discom

Tirupati:: M.M.Nayak has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of AP Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, Tirupati. He is presently with the APEPDCL in Visakhapatnam. The government has issued an order dated August 31 to this effect. The appointment bring to an end the four-year tenure of the present incumbent H.J.Dora.

Apollo Hospitals get 150 MBBS seats

Amaravati:: The Supreme Court of India has in its judgement directed the MCI to grant 150 MBBS seats to Apollo Hospitals. It may be recalled that the MCI declined to permit the MBBS seats on the grounds of lack of requisite basic amenities. The management approached the Supreme Court with the plea that it will make arrangements for creating the necessary norms prescribed by MCI. The Apex Court asked the management to complete the admission process by September 7. With this, the NTR University of Health Sciences will be conducting counselling from September 2. There are 75 seats under convener quota and the rest of 75 seats are under management and NRI quota.

Agri-polytechnic counselling concludes

Amaravati:: The second phase of counselling for admissions into agriculture diploma courses in all agricultural colleges was concluded on Thursday. As many as 3,890 seats were filled up out of 3,980 seats according to co-ordinator Polytechnics Sunil Kumar Babu. The remaining 90 seats will be filled up by NCC, NSS, Divyangulu and sports quota candidates.
