900 kg of ganja seized and 12 held

Y.Ramavaram (EG district):: The Y.Ramavaram police on Wednesday seized 900 kg of ganja valued at Rs.1 crore and arrested 12 persons allegedly smuggling the contraband. On a tip-off, the police and excise officials raided a spot in the deep forest area of Chidipakala village in Rampachodavaram Agency and arrested the accused.

NABARD load for NTR Jalasri

Vijayawada:: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned Rs.116.51 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund-XXIII as loan assistance for NTR Jalasri-Phase II. The project envisages drilling of 18,117 borewells in 12 districts. A unique feature of the project is installation of solar pumpsets for the wells. Upon completion of the project, an area of 27,000 hectare will be brought under irrigation.

Militia member arrested

Chinturu (EG District):: The Chituru police on Wednesday arrested Poonam Ramesh, a militia member of the Sabari Dalam. The Chinuturu police said that they received information that Ramesh, a native of Kaligonda village was actively participating in the Maoist movement. Details are yet to be known.

Stage set for counting of KMC poll

Kakinada:: Arrangements for counting of votes pertaining to the Kakinada Municipal Corporation have been completed. The counting will begin at 8am at Rangaraya Government Medical College on September 1 said District Collector Karthikeya Mishra today. SP Vishal Gunni said that only counting agents and candidates would be allowed inside the centre. Section 30 would be in force on Thursday.

ONGC official in CBI net

Kakinada/Visakhapatnam:: The CBI officials today night arrested DGM (Infrastructure) of ONGC, Kakinada, P.Venkata Rao for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.4 lakh from a contractor at Kakinada in East Godavari district.
