Auction of laddu fetches Rs.1.6 lakh

Srikakulam:: The organizers of Ganesh pandals here auctioned laddu prasadam with much fanfare. Many devotees participated n the auction in an enthusiastic manner. Varanasi Madhusudana Rao, a trader from the town could get the laddu prasadam by paying Rs.1.6 lakh at the pandals of Vijaya Ganapathi temple. In another auction conducted by the Srikakulam Traders’ Association, a local trader Silla Chandu could get the laddu prasadam for Rs.80,000.

Immersion of Ganesh idols made of Plaster of Paris will be fined

Rajamahendravaram:: The Municipal Commissioner V.Vijayaramaraju today announced that Ganesh idols made with plaster of Paris will be fined during the immersion which is going to be held on September 2,3 and 4. He reviewed the arrangements made for immersion. Vijayaramaraju who is also in-charge Sub-Collector said the corporation officials should stop each PoP idol at Godavari bunds at Markandeya Swamy temple, sand ramp and other places. He said that idols above 15 feet should be immersed in Katheru area and other 1,300 idols within the city can be immersed in sand ramp area near Kumari Talkies and Markandeya Swamy temple ghat.

Social Welfare School principal suspended

Vizianagaram:: Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential schools Col V.Ramulu on Saturday suspended G.V.Rama Devi, in-charge principal of APSWR School, Nellimarla and appointed lecturer in civics K.Sridevi in her place. Collector Vivek Yadav had recommended for her suspension following death of A.Neelima, a Class VI student due to fever recently.

Auction of posts of MLA, corporator’, says CPI State secretary

Rajamahendravaram:: The CPI State secretary K.Ramakrishna has said it is better to auction the posts of MLA, corporator and Mayor rather than conduct elections to them as the ruling and opposition parties are dumping crores of rupees to buy votes. Speaking to media on Saturday, he said that the TDP and YSRCP used money and muscle power during the Nandyal by election and were resorting to it again in Kakinada. He alleged that the both TDP and YSRCP were ready to buy corporators by shelling down Rs.50 lakh each.
